A5: Fort Beluarian then on toward Firefinger

18 June: We travel the well maintained road east-northeast to the fort. Along the way we find a man tied to post, covered in honey and bees. A criminal displayed as an example...of what? Why bees? He claims to be a noble named Pontificus Electromb. Says highway robbery of his winnings from the jousting event held in Fort Beluarian. We cut him free.

Come across glowing globes dancing across leaves and the grass. Tiny elementals – Chwanga. Kevar is charmed with tattoo.

It seems there are statues of Ubtao everywhere. This one covered in beetles. And more goblins; Daisee adding a pig-golbin mask to her collection.


22 June: Come across corpse. Take his backpack of rations, and ivory ring with beast carving (ring of animal influence). 3 charges. 1d3 every day. 1) animal friendship, 2) fear 3 or less creatures, 3) speak with animals.

23 June (Kythorn)-Fort Beluarian: The flag of Baldur’s Gate flies over the stronghold, which is garrisoned by 'Flaming Fist' mercenaries under the command of Liara Portyr. Although the monthly jousting tournament was complete, there were still contestants walking the street...dinosaur heraldry. Lepard-skin tabards, helmets shaped like snarling panthers, armor adorned with tyrannosaurus teeth and parrot feather.

No sooner had we entered the fort than Rocah was gone. No coordination for our distraction, leaving us wondering if she'd already entered the commanders office. The wondering leading to Daisee's absence as SHE decided to sneak into the fort commander's office. Sure enough she finds Rocah inside…but talking into a stone, “As you suspect Captain Zaroum. Liara is skimming money offering ‘protection’ to a few Nyanzaru merchants, leaving their richly laden ships off her report to you.” Daisee’s realization she had proof both Rocah and Liara are conspiring with pirates!

After Rocah left the office, Daisee pocketed the stone and exited the office then calmly walked out of the building as if she belonged. "Look what I found." And that's when we were surrounded by mercenaries led by Liara herself. Kevar speaking up, "Commander, good to find you. We've rescued your stone. We overheard a thief named Rocah planning the heist and interceded before she could get away." Quick thinking and smooth talking saved our butts!

5 July (Flamerule)-Firefinger: Days till we come upon Firefinger. A tall spire.

We were warned about the Pterafolk that roost here; no warning about the LARGE spiders in the 1st room! Dyxon bitten but immune to poison. We kill the 4 of them before finding an emaciated elf body who wasn't as lucky. We climb the spire to the top, managing to sneak up on the Pterafolk.


At first we think them humans till they spot us and unfurl their wings. We kill one before the others take flight and begin dive-bombing us. Ranged weapons and spells soon end their attacks. And that's when we hear a voice from inside the stone building atop the spire. Another birdman but different. This one more regal. "I am Nephyre, from Kir Sabal. These Terror folk captured me weeks ago. Allow me to guide you to my home."

Just outside the prison cell, Daisee finds a wooden lion-mask, "Just like Azaka mentioned [3 charges per day animal friendship]."
